Yamada Hit String Snapped at 25
Late in the game Dragons third baseman <Taroemon Yamada:player#12844> stepped into the batter box with his 25-game hitting streak on the line. Up to then he was without a hit. Sadly it just wasn't to be -- Yamada did not get a hit -- and his streak was finally over. The Tigers had stopped him, not allowing him a hit in 3 at-bats. However, <Chunichi:team#287> won the game 3-2.

"Winning the game took some of the disappointment out of it," <Yamada:player#12844> told reporters in the clubhouse. "Looking back on it, it was a great experience. Not too many players can say they had a hit in 25 straight games. It's something I will always remember."

<Yamada:player#12844> is batting at a .328 pace this season, picking up 157 hits in 478 at-bats with 14 home runs, 64 RBIs and 99 runs scored.
